Yeahp, thrill to the New Kids on the Block’s immortal(?) classic(?) “The Right Stuff.” A less pleasing karaoke option than the original version of the page, which featured Blur’s “Girls and Boys,” but arguably a funnier choice. (Your Mileage May Vary, of course.) As mentioned yesterday, an NKOTB reference by mid-twentysomething women seemed a tad more probable circa 2007, but perhaps Emp and Ninjette share a love of crappy pop songs from before their time.

“Cape karaoke night” becomes a recurring motif throughout the rest of Empowered, always taking place at this same superhero-friendly club. In fact, the name of this particular club constitutes an important clue about the true nature of the Empverse—which is why I’ve never deigned to actually reveal that name. Maybe someday, though!

Decided to roll with the cord-attached karaoke microphones seen here out of sheer, dogged perversity, even though I suspect cordless mics might’ve already become dominant back in 2007. Alas, I wouldn’t know, as I never actually sang any karaoke myself until the summer of 2012, if I recall correctly. (Shocking, I know.)

Might as well add the original "Girls and Boys"-lyric version of this page below:
