For the record, I’m using the page numbering from the volumes, hence the jump from “Volume 4 pages 2-3” to “Volume 4 page 8.” Otherwise, the webcomic numbering and the book pages I’m referring to immediately fall out of sync, which becomes annoying as hell. You just missed the indicia page and a bunch of recap pages—hence Meta Emp’s reference to ’em in her first balloon, here.
Yeahp, the full-color story that follows was originally part of an anthology collaboration dealie between Dark Horse Comics and—yikes!—MySpace. Vaguely hilarious that this long-defunct, dawn-era social media iteration is immortalized almost a decade hence in Empowered, but what can you do? I’ve been tempted to change Meta Emp’s dialogue to reference a more generic anthology format, but dare not open the Pandora’s box of tinkering with my old material. If I started updating old Empowered installments, I’d never stop. Onward, folks, ever onward!
