We continue serialization of the collected version of the three-issue 2017 miniseries Empowered and the Soldier of Love, written and laid out by me and featuring full-color artwork by the Chilean webcomic artist Karla Diaz.

As you can see from this example, Karla's colors worked out great early on in the project, but the nightmarishly time-consuming burden of having to handle the coloring as well as the penciling and inking of a monthly-release miniseries inevitably caught up to her. The next Soldier of Love project I'm currently planning will almost certainly feature Karla's B&W line art only, meaning that I'll have to do dig up a colorist compatible with her art style, which can be tricky; the simplified shading necessary for a cartoon-y "anime face" can often through colorists for a loop, I'm afraid (as has very often happened with my own artwork).
