Panel 2: Thanks to my friend Tomoko Saito—retouch artist and letterer for the manga Blade of the Immortal, as well as some of my Dirty Pair and Gen13 comics work—for working up the Japanese translation and kanji for this abstruse bit of “ninja magic.” You might recall Tomoko’s similar contribution in Empowered vol. 2, which involved the similarly exotic art of “enormous breast magic.”
