Panel 1: Gotta admit, I’ve never heard any version of the word “gibbous” used outside of the phrase “a gibbous moon,” meaning “(of the moon) having the observable illuminated part greater than a semicircle and less than a circle.” Ah, but I later discovered that the word can also mean “convex or protuberant,” as in the example “gibbous eyes.” Come to think of it, the Caged Demonwolf might well have used the term to describe, say, Emp’s toothsome rump, save for the slight problem that this might invite comparisons with a gibbon’s prominent behind. Whoops!

Panel 3: Wellp. Had a long, rambling, multi-paragraph riff written up about these Mysterious Cumulus Congestus clouds largely for the benfit of long-term Empowered readers, but at the last moment (only 10 minutes left before this page posts!), I decided to hold off until a few pages later in the story. (Or possibly not at all, as said riff was arguably rife* with potential SPOILERS** for webcomic readers.)

-Adam Warren

*The riff was rife! THE RIFF WAS RIFE!

**Just so you know, every g-d time I'm about to type the word SPOILERS, I'm inexplicably driven to first mistype it as SPOLIERS. Every g-d time, that is, except for this footnote; for the first time in forever, I typed it as SPOILERS correctly. Hey, make that twice in a row! Yay?
