Panel 3: Observant readers might recall the Purple Paladin Memorial Hospital from its first appearance in the final story of Empowered vol. 2.

Panel 4: The progression from panel 3 to panel 4 amuses me a fair bit, in that this crazy-looking monstrosity of a structure was “hiding” just out of sight in the previous panel.

If I may flog an Empowered project years removed from this story, the later one-shot Empowered: Internal Medicine drawn by the great Brandon Graham showed that the Suprahuman Treatment Wing is even weirder on the inside than the outside. (Much, much weirder, in fact.)
