Panel 1: Though he’s never appeared in the rest of the series, I’ve always assumed that Crowquet was an actual supervillain whose costume Maidman stole for this role. The question is, did Maidman steal CQ’s identity just so he’d have a disguise that would accommodate his broom? Quite possibly.

Panel 2: This action sequence rattles off pretty much the entire—and entirely limited—list of sound FX that the inscrutable algorithm in my head finds acceptable, including the probably Frank-Miller-derived KLUDD seen here.

Panel 4: Ouch! My brain! Well, my outside brain, that is.
