We continue serialization of the collected version of the three-issue 2017 miniseries Empowered and the Soldier of Love, written and laid out by me and featuring full-color artwork by the Chilean webcomic artist Karla Diaz.
Panel 1: Ehh, I probably should've asked Karla to render that building (and the background ones too) as a blackened silhouette with lit-up windows, an approach which would've looked bolder and much more striking while likely taking less time to depict. (Oh, well.)
Panel 3: While I vaguely recalled hearing of the 1978 romantic drama Ice Castles in my youth, I never actually saw the flick; in fact, I just now realized that I was thinking of the 1992 skating-intensive movie The Cutting Edge (which I also didn't see) when I tried to recall Ice Castles. In any event, I certainly did not recall the frickin' love theme from the movie, which I stumbled across while searching through long, long lists of love songs that could serve as El Soldado's BGMs.
Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on fantasy test projects The Last Party and The Chaste and the Chained.
