Note, in panel 2, that Spooky’s mask boasts the same (presumably magical) feature as Emp’s own mask: that is, its eyes display her expressions, with the upper line of the, uh, “eyeholes” somehow conveying the positioning of her eyebrows. How might that be accomplished, you ask? It’s magic, I assume! (Also, I have zero interest whatsoever in drawing realistically—pardon, let me scare-quote that as “realistically”—expressionless masks.)

Panel 5’s reference to the word “son” as a verb cracked me up then—God alone knows where the hell I’d heard that usage, circa 2004—and still cracks me up now. Such is its perfection, here, that I never used the verb form of “son” again.
