Panel 2: Here, behold an early preview of the life drawing I would take up in earnest at the end of 2017, as the female dancer in this shot was drawn from photoreference.
Panel 3: My interest in Japanese comics and animation of course long predates the coinage of the term "weeaboo," but of late I seem to have taken an extra step into "weebery" due to the fact that I am now watching a g-d boatload of anime every night after I wrap up work. Previously, I'd been picking and choosing a few choice cuts of anime to consume only on occasion, such as high-profile, top-shelf content like BOCCHI THE ROCK!, Chainsaw Man, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and so on; but recently, due to the fact that my next two comic projects—or possibly even four, if I could find the artists!—are fantasy-based, I've gone positively hog-wild with g-d isekai anime in particular. (More on this matter later, needless to say.)
Next week on the webcomic, the basis of this chapter's title—that is, "The Captain and the Kunoichi"—becomes quite clear!
Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out
more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12,
I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that
won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what
today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed
Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per
month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design
departments, or possibly something entirely new. Golly!
