No saving throw possible against this magic spell, apparently; or mayhap the doomed Neurospear failed said saving throw, which presumably had a very high DC (Difficulty Class) in D&D terms.
BTW, in the original version of this scene, Spooky was going to dramatically regrow her right arm on the spot before psychokinetically tearing Neurospear limb from limb; I ditched the idea because A) I had completely run out of available vol. 11 pagecount by this point and couldn't even spare so much as one page for that moment; and B), almost as importantly, it occurred to me that Spooky's offensive spells had already been shown to be "castable" one-handed (as seen at the end of Empowered vol. 8), making the regrowth a rather pointless (if dramatic) gesture.
Ah, but by this point work was already underway on the Guest Artist miniseries Empowered and Sistah Spooky's High School Hell, which features a notably two-armed Spooky based on the assumption that she'd restore herself at the end of this volume. Whoops!
Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out
more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12,
I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that
won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what
today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed
Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per
month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design
departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on
fantasy test projects The Last Party and The Chaste
and the Chained. Golly!
