Panel 1: Missed out on the opportunity to make the “falsies” used in Emp-disguised Ninjette’s kyonyÅ«jutsu (“enormous breast magic,” in Japanese) more distinctive than the rather uninspired—and, possibly, excessively small—items seem here. Oh, well.

Panel 3: Ah, once again, thrill to one of my favorite—and, let’s be honest, easiest—panel layouts! Namely, the functionally image-free panel featuring only sound FX and word balloons, visually accompanied here by only speed lines, sweat droplets, and random bits of blood and debris. Bonus: The gurgling cry of “GUCHKK” is a direct dialogue port from Howard Chaykin’s fantastic SF-and-satire series American Flagg!, one of the most important (American) comic influences on my storytelling preferences and sensibilities.

Panel 4: Bad enough that Ninjette went out and savagely assaulted a seemingly random bunch of mooks, but to steal their pizza as well? That’s truly adding insult to injury. On closer inspection, looks like she might have absconded with one of their beers as well, given that the bottle she had in hand when she went out the window on p.112 seemed to be running low. Is there no end to the wench’s impish effrontery, as the Caged Demonwolf would no doubt opine?
