Panels 2 & 3: Note the reappearance of the visual trope of Emp with Disheveled Hair, formerly common in Empowered vol. 1 but seen only rarely thereafter. As I’ve noted before, I’m vaguely amused that this riff usually popped up in the context of Emp’s hair getting mussed up after an—ahem—“love scene,” and was only rarely used after an action scene. No, wait, I think that Emp’s hair did indeed appear disheveled after an episode of violence in this very volume—in the aftermath of the poor woman getting viciously curbstomped by King Tyrant Lizard.
