Yeahp, this story represents the point at which I first went truly hog-wild with alliteration in the Caged Demonwolf’s dialogue, a fateful decision which I’ve subsequently come to regret. In earlier Empowered volumes, his riffing was bombastic and purple-prosed, but not all that abstruse or obscure in terms of vocabulary—which I can’t say about later flurries of alliteration, alas. Nowadays, I try to indulge only in briefer, two- or three-word alliteration chains in the Blazing-Eyed Devilgoat’s stentorian bellowing, to avoid getting too far off in the weeds with his word choices.
