Panel 3: Gotta say, I find it refreshing to show Emp being a tad peevish and petulantly petty—paging the Caged Demonwolf!—in this scene. She may be a self-described “good girl,” but that doesn’t mean Emp is noble and flawless at all times.

Panel 5: Ah, behold one of my favorite obscure background jokes: Namely that, back in Empowered vol. 1, the Superhomeys’ Homeycrib was established strictly via a few ambiguous, vaguely classical-looking pillars lurking in the BGs of several panels. Can’t tell you how much I miss this whimsical, time-saving approach to sketching in environments, as opposed to the grinding, miserable, “why am I doing this?” slog of the more detailed and rigorous—and incredibly g-d tiresome—settings I’m currently drawing for Empowered vol. 11.
