Panel 2: Get it? Ninjette’s panel 1 line about “getting a kick” is literalized with this panel’s action. Ha ha! Dig the transition! In fact, gotta say that I’ve never cared all that much for dialogue-based transitions like this one, which strike me more as cutesy visual puns than graceful scene changes. As important as Alan Moore’s writing on Swamp Thing was to Teenage Me, his frequent use of similar dialogue transitions between scenes did tend to grate on me a tad.
Panel 3: Jogging Ninja should be turned more towards the camera; right now, his imminent kick is off-line with the targeted Ninjette, I feel. Howeva, I do like the choreography of Ninjette tossing the bÅ (stick) shuriken from one hand to another, which might be a reference to a Wu Jing move from his fantastic alleyway fight with Donnie Yen in the HK flick SPL (aka Killzone). Strongly recommend checking out that fight scene, BTW, as it’s one of my all-time favorites as an action connoisseur. (Or action gourmand, if not glutton.)
