Panel 2: Ninjette can’t possibly believe this—or can she?

Panel 3: I quite enjoy the slightly “meta” approach of Ninjette looking directly at the imaginary “minds-eye” version of herself—and, more relevantly, her differently labeled shorts.

Panel 4: Ninjette’s designation of Emp as a “three-drink bisexual” does recur a few times more throughout the series, if I recall correctly. Oh, that wacky Drinking Emp!

Panel 5: Later Empowered volumes establish that Emp is, apparently, a lame karaoke singer herself, at least in the discerning opinions of several superpeers. (More specifically, her Superdead peers, a term that won’t be clearly defined for new readers until Empowered vol. 6.)
