Panel 1: Readers might (but likely won't) remember that the ungainly suprahuman "Homunculoid" was briefly glimpsed in the background of a Caped Justice Awards shot from Empowered vol.4. As noted on that earlier page's commentary, this goofy-looking fella is based on the sensory model of the cortical homunculus, which is (per Wikipedia) “a distorted representation of the human body, based on a neurological 'map' of the areas and proportions of the human brain dedicated to processing motor functions, or sensory functions, for different parts of the body.”

Panel 2: Can't say I'm sure whether or not ol' Homunculoid is perpetually stuck in this rather grotesque form, or if he can transform back and forth from a less alarming civilian identity. Note that, as we can see, his unusual appearance certainly doesn't slow him down from coming on to the slightly unnerved Ninjette.
