Panel 2: Not quite a recurrence of the ol’ Mysteriously Intermittent Post-Millennial Torso Glitch, here, but that figure drawing of Emp is a bit of a mess. Head too large, abdomen too “snaky.” (However, not all that bad for a "first draft, only draft" drawing, must admit. Tough to get things spot-on without multiple prelims and roughs, folks.)
Panel 3: “Halothaned” being a reference to a scene back in Empowered vol.1. Check my commentary on that old page for how that scene’s halothane ref managed to honk off chloroform enthusiasts. Whoops!
Panel 5: At the time, thought I was being a tad more—ahem—“realistic” with this page’s take on the chloroform trope, but an anesthesiologist acquaintance pointed out that nope, I was still spouting BS. However, Emp’s last line is all too true, as people have been killed in the real world due to jackasses thinking the narratively convenient fictional trope of damsel-distressing chloroform works in reality like it does in the movies and TV—and, uh, comics.
Today's Patreon update: As this is a Monday, time for the usual double dose of life drawings new(-ish) and old, along with the high-res scans for both, available to all Patreon tiers. (This is the main benefit for the "tip jar" $1 tier, TBH, as the rest of the week's content mainly goes out to the $3+ tiers, with "damsel-in-distress" Wednesdays reserved for edification of the $5+ tiers.)
