Panel 2: In Ninjette’s hiragana word balloon, an early appearance of “ara” (in Romaji) as a Japanese exclamation. Once again, this is taken from a Japanese friend of mine who would exclaim thusly in mild reaction, though in retrospect I’m not entirely sure that her mode of Japanese speech would line up with whatever the hell dialect Ninjette might have grown up speaking. That is, it might well be the case that Kozue’s New Jersey-based weeaboo clan might well be using some deliberately archaic form of Japanese as an extra note of affected, ersatz “authenticity.”

Panel 1: Given the earlier appearance of the not dissimilar-looking Deathmonger, perhaps I should’ve emphasized that this bizarre image is purely metaphorical and figurative, or “not a literal depiction of events,” as noted a few pages earlier re: the Clingy Monkey accords.
