Panels 1 and 2: When possible, I generally prefer not to have big ol’ word balloons full of text next to each other in adjoining panels, to avoid reader intimidation by excessive clustering of text. One obvious way around this would’ve been to show Emp on the left side of panel 2, not the right, so her close-up would constitute a break in the wall of text.

Panel 2: In case you’d forgotten, Emp has a Bachelor’s degree in Suprahuman Studies. She probably should’ve had a Latin honors dealie on that degree (given that she was highly skilled at the academic aspects of such studies, as we’ll later see), but I didn’t think of that. Maybe she’s just forgotten to mention it? What can I say, folks; after all, I have a certificate from a technical school, not a college degree, so I’m only indirectly familiar with the relevant nomenclature.

Panel 4: Not really a big SPOILER to hint that we are definitely about to learn one of the sketchier secrets of the superhero field in this story.
