Panel 2: Arguably, an in-dialogue quotation like “CLEANING UP THIS MESS” should be italicized, but the truth is, as a (hand-)letterer I just can’t reliably and consistently sustain the proper angle for an italic font. That’s why the EMPHASIS LETTERING in this series is bolded and underlined as opposed to italicized, a combo which rarely seen in published American comics. However, bolded and underlined is how emphasis lettering is indicated in the standard comic script format, in an attempt to provide extra clarity for the letterer.

And that’s it for the chapter “Of Blue Steel and Bad Ideas,” folks. Tomorrow, we move on to “Deflowered and Dispassionate,” a Ninjette/Caged Demonwolf bathroom story(!) that’s generally considered the high point of the volume by many readers.
