Panel 1: Arguably, the perpetually expressionless “F**king Oyuki-chan” comes a bit too close to displaying a facial expression in this shot. (Well, arguably.)
Panel 5: As I’ve discussed repeatedly on my Patreon’s sporadic Friday feature “Comics Riffs I Love,” this L-shaped panel structure (surrounding a subsequent, smaller panel) is a trick borrowed from Frank Thorne’s high-density, very-high-panel-count storytelling on Red Sonja from the 70s.
Panel 6: Probably could’ve gotten away with just “our counter-ambush got counter-ambushed,” or possibly just “our counter-ambush got ambushed,” but the “counter-counter-ambush” riff is reasonably amusing.
Tomorrow, brace for another time jump as we explore the aforementioned counter-counter ambush!
Today’s Patreon Update: As this is a Monday, time for our weekly double dose of life drawings new-ish (2018) and old (2017), along with the high-res Photoshop raw scans for both of ‘em, available to all Patreon tiers.
