Panel 1: As noted a few pages back, baboon faces can be surprisingly difficult to render adequately. Note also those odd elliptical shapes drawn within the “impact flash” around Emp’s fist; this is a peculiar riff borrowed from the highly stylized muzzle flashes depicted in Kenichi Sonoda’s manga Gunsmith Cats.

Panel 3: While I quite like the energy and motion used on the legs (and flapping pant legs) of the as-yet-unnamed, anchor-slinging bad guy, his arms and hands seem notably less dynamic. That’s because, as an artist, you’ll often find yourself struggling just to get the g-d extremities in a two-handed action pose to grip an object correctly, let along do so in an energetic and compelling fashion. Oh, well.

Today’s Patreon update: As it’s a Wednesday, time for the $5+ Patron tiers to get their weekly dose of commissioned damsel-in-distress content! (No idea what as to exactly that might be at this time, though; these commentaries are written much further out from posting than are my often last-minute Patreon updates.)
