Panel 5: Let's face it, we wouldn't be able to see Maidman's face from this angle but ehh, chalk this up to artistic license, okay? (Though a more strictly accurate shot showing nothing but his flippy bangs visible over those pleats would've been pretty funny, come to think of it.)

Panel 6: While I like the concept of this panel, the execution of that annoyingly Christmas-tree-like shot of Spooky did not work out well at all. Might've worked if I'd had the cloak billowing out to only one side, but I chose to "go symmetrical" with her silhouette, and paid the price. Not every artistic choice can work out, needless to say; the difference, here, from my usual grousing about Past Me's blunders is that this flawed shot bugged me at the time (2012-13) when I drew it, but I never got around to fixing or replacing it.

And that's it for this Spooky/ Maidman interlude, folks. Tomorrow, we jump to yet another variation on the theme of Hell as vol.8's anthology-format opening chapter rolls on.

Today’s Patreon update: As it’s a Wednesday, time for the $5+ Patron tiers to get their weekly dose of commissioned damsel-in-distress content, along the lines of the same material that was eventually reworked into Empowered. (No idea as to exactly what that might be at this time, though; these commentaries are written much further out from posting than are my often last-minute Patreon updates.)
