Panel 1: Hmmm... how to put this. This scene features a creepy if not downright repulsive element that's never directly addressed or clarified in the narrative. I doubt many readers picked up on it, as one would have to be pretty g-d familiar with the final act of Empowered vol. 6—that is, Emp's raid on Deathmonger's lair and the subsequent Superdead fight—to pick up on the skeeviness. Then again, who knows? You webcomic readers may already have figured out what's doin' with this scene's Easter egg-ish element by the time this page posts. (As I type this commentary on May 21, Deathmonger's appearance hasn't yet popped up in the "published" webcomic serialization.)

Panel 5: In the end, I wound up none too thrilled with that ARR! contraption that Emp was strapped into, due to the unfortunate fact that, well, it kinda looks like a toilet. (Oh, well.)
