Panel 2: In retrospect, while I still like this image of Emp a fair bit, I definitely do not like the image of her head overlapping Dreadnaughty Naughty's word balloon, as that's normally a visual riff used with a character's own dialogue, not somebody else's.

Panel 4: Presumably, one of the 44(!) different sets of ellipse templates kicking around my studio space came in handy for rendering those oval speedlines around the spinning Dreadnaughty Naughty. Some of those templates date all the way back to my bygone years at the Kubert School; a fair chunk of the more exotic ones, in the extreme and rarely seen ranges from 5-15 and 65-90 degrees, came from a single, quite fruitful trip to the ol' Flax art store in San Francisco about a decade ago.

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. However, my vast archive of years of Patreon posts—extensive Empowered previews, vintage con sketches, work stages on covers, "damsel in distress" commissions, life drawings & much, much more—remains available for Patrons' perusal.
