Panel 3: Okay, HN Prime presumably being either a paid or hierarchically exclusive service kinda defeats the entire point of HeroNet—which, in fact, I don't think I've never actually explained in detail. (Maybe someday I'll get around to doing so, though perhaps the insightful reader has already figured out its vaguely implied function.) On the other hand, superheroic culture in the Empverse is often depicted as deeply flawed at best and self-defeating at worst, so this would kinda be par for the course.
Panel 4: Aaaaand as usual, this opening chapter's title ("Not A Good Day to be Empowered") was derived from a line of dialogue—here, FemiFist's second word balloon.
Next week on the webcomic serialization, we check in on Emp and her apartment-mates—all four of 'em, in fact. (Huh?)
Today’s Patreon update: In an attempt to scratch out more worktime to
complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over
to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the
fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post
might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels
content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or
something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design
departments, or possibly something entirely new. Golly!
