We continue serialization of Empowered vol. 12, which proved to be the final volume of the series in this specific graphic-novel format, though I was unaware of that unfortunate reality when I started work on the book.

Behold, a rare but not unprecedented vertically oriented version of my favorite way of kicking off a story: namely, three to five slightly ambiguous panels setting up a proper establishing shot on the next page!

Panel 3: I am oddly amused by the "aside text" seeming to indicate that Emp is making "CAW CAW" noises to accompany her use of the word "CROWING."
