We continue serialization of the collected edition of the six-issue 2018 miniseries Empowered and Sistah Spooky’s High School Hell, written and laid out by me and featuring art and lettering by Guest Artist Carla “Speed” McNeil and coloring by Jenn Manley Lee.

Yes, indeedy, Emp is indeed paraphrasing narrative-relevant lines from John Mayer's 2001 (yikes!) single "No Such Thing," which I have to admit I still do like a fair bit. Note that so much time had already passed since Emp's 2004 origin (yikes again!) that I elected to switch the reference from being a favorite song of hers to a favorite of her mother's. Lordy loo!
