The Soldier of Love p.46

We continue serialization of the collected version of the three-issue 2017 miniseries Empowered and the Soldier of Love, written and laid out by me and featuring full-color artwork by the Chilean webcomic artist Karla Diaz.

Panel 1: I've only now realized that I could've asked Karla to depict El Soldado's ever-changing "gun wand" as a simple, "light-saber"-y glowing pink silhouette, as the magical weapon would've still been (mostly) recognizable as a firearm in such a rendering. That way, she wouldn't have had to sweat drawing all the manifold details of a real-world gun over and over again, which I can tell you gets really g-d tiresome in a hurry.

Panel 5 and onward: This gradual color transition on the successive panels worked out quite nicely to convey this tier's depiction of, well,  a "long day's journey into night."

Next week on the webcomic, stand by for s'more action, dear readers!

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on fantasy test projects The Last Party and The Chaste and the Chained. Golly!
