We continue serialization of the 2015 one-shot Empowered: Pew Pew Pew!, written and drawn by yours truly.
Panel 7: At this point, I belatedly realized that making the giant H in the HYPERVIGILANTES logo into an italicized letter was a very poor choice indeed, as the italicization's slant immediately began interfering with the upward-angled perspective of this shot.
Note also an increasingly rare appearance of the so-called "perspective cheat" on Emp, a stylized visual riff that I began discontinuing not long after this decade-ago story. The idea was to show a character's facial expression while she reacts to something in the background, even though technically she's not directly facing said BG element; this flourish works semi-okay in a cartoony art style, for whatever that's worth, but the approach eventually began to bug me a fair bit.
Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. However, my vast archive of years of Patreon posts—extensive Empowered previews, work-in-progress updates on developmental projects such as fantasy comics The Chaste and the Chained and The Last Party, vintage con sketches, work stages on covers, "damsel in distress" commissions, life drawings & much, much more—remains available for Patrons' perusal.
