Panel 1: Somehow, the sight of the badly burnt Baby Bird trembling seems even more sad and pathetic than the images of the equally ill-fated Katastrophe.

Panel 2: In fairness to the doomed Katastrophe and friends, I should note that Willy Pete’s vicious proclivities are pretty far out there, even for Empverse supervillains. My theory is that these foolish lads might’ve heard vague stories or rumors of WP’s horrific massacre of his own (supposed) minions, say, but assumed the tales to be exaggerations or distortions, if not outright lies. Not that I address this in much detail in the series, but some Empowered supervillains go to great lengths to build up their own legends and reputations for “badassedness,” so this tragic underestimation of the rather obscure Willy Pete’s bloodthirstiness isn’t quite as dumb as it seems.

Panel 4: Believe it or not, matters are about to take an even more unpleasant turn, as we’ll learn yet another fun fact about ol’ Willy Pete tomorrow.
