Panel 3: That odd-looking weapon in the kunoichi’s right hand is a curiosity “called either a yari-jutte or karakuri-jutte”, per the fine and informative book Samurai Weapons by Don Cunningham. This tool was, apparently, a weapon used in Jittetori-ryu*, a martial-arts style founded by the father of famed swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Not really a ninja tool as such, but it looks as if it could be, don’t you think?

Panel 4: Now, this is more like it, with a close-up giving the proper blank, doll-like look to the ninja’s eyes. Presumably she’s wearing contact lenses to enable those shuriken-shaped pupils, but then again, she does belong to a ninja clan known to wield quasi-mystical, unearthly powers, so who knows…

*Technically Jittetouri, I suppose, to indicate the extended "o" sound in Japanese. Looks like this commentary's font doesn't support the preferred "o with a macron over it" to indicate vowel extension, much to my annoyance.
