Panel 1: Not entirely sure about this point, but I suspect that this scene might be the very first time in the series that Emp is rendered a damsel in genuinely life-threatening distress.

Panel 4: Emp’s figure proportions, here, display a very different set of preferences than the ones I use nowadays. In fact, this particular image features an unusually cartoonish, “big-headed” set of proportions even for the time, as back then I’d normally only employ such a highly stylized artistic flourish on sporadic occasions. No idea, to be honest, exactly why I chose to go this route for a scene that was deadly f**king serious for Emp.
