I suspect that panel 1’s image of the van wasn’t just referenced from a photo but possibly traced directly, as the perspective and foreshortening on the vehicle strikes me as more exaggerated and pronounced than I would’ve come up with on my own. Still, a pretty good shot overall, even if it might’ve been enabled by less than 100% creative means. Then again, as the great Wally Wood once put it, “Never draw anything you can copy, never copy anything you can trace, never trace anything you can cut out and paste up.”

Panel 2: Note that “SLAMM” is about the closest I ever come to so-called “literal sound FX,” which I ordinarily dislike intensely. Y’know, like theoretically funny sound FX like “LEAP!” or “POINT!” or the like, a (supposedly) humorous flourish which has always rubbed me the wrong way for some reason.
