Panels 1 and 2: I rather like this two-panel progression, with that middle panel gutter serving to convey a slight lapse in time better than, say, a single, unbroken panoramic panel would’ve done.

Panel 5: Gotta admit, I’m curious as to what the heck someone speaking with such a large, inhuman tongue would sound like. (Though, of course, we’d probably be trotting out the standard fantasy-media trope of “beastie clearly lacking any anatomy to enable human speech nonetheless sounds exactly like a Hollywood voice actor.”)

Panel 6: Here, a very unusual take on Emp’s VORPP powers flashing to life, seen a fraction of a second before the actual VORPP sound FX is heard. (For the record, I once had Emp describe her VORPPing as “deadly jazz hands” in an unpublished Empowered prose project, which remains my favorite description of the phenomenon.)
