Panel 5: In case you’d forgotten, this HeroNet newsreader’s supranym is Valkyrie Eleison, which I’m reasonably sure is this series’ only Mr. Mister reference. (Unless a “Broken Wings” callback is lurking in an earlier volume, presumably forgotten by me.)

Panel 6: I strongly suspect that the medical gizmo on the back wall, overlapped partially by the BLORPP sound FX, is based on a Ron Cobb design from my badly battered, fallen-to-pieces copy of The Art of Alien that’s lurked beside my drawing table for most of my life.
