Panel 1: That’s waaaaay too many sound FX for one panel, but Decade-Ago Me was deliberately aiming for some onomatopoeic overkill to handle the action a bit differently in this shot. Might not be a successful experiment, true, but one still worth trying.

Panel 2: I borrowed this kicking pose from l’oeuvre de Kenichi Sonoda, who featured it frequently in his manga Gunsmith Cats. The pose is, well, kinda BS from a martial-arts point of view, but dang if it doesn’t look sweet and deliver good energy.

Panel 4: Sound the F**king Oyuki-chan Too-Pouty Upper Lip Alert, folks! (Yeahp, her upper lip is supposed to be a fair bit thinner.)

Tomorrow, we jump away from the present-tense ninja-on-ninja mayhem to check in on the “cape karaoke” flashback, where matters will take an unpleasant turn for one of our other characters.  

Today’s Patreon update: As it’s a Wednesday, time for the $5+ Patron tiers to get their weekly dose of commissioned damsel-in-distress content, along the lines of the same material was eventually reworked into Empowered. (No idea what as to exactly that might be at this time, though; these commentaries are written much further out from posting than are my often last-minute Patreon updates.)
