Panel 1: I felt pretty good about Ninjette’s use of “our girl,” here—right up until a reader pointed out to me that this was also notably used re: Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City. Oh, well.
Panel 4: I’ve never thought of a truly apt way to describe these interludes with characters addressing the camera. These scenes aren’t quite as metatextual as the “Meta-Emp” chapter breaks in which she’s breaking the fourth wall far more forcefully whilst directly addressing the reader, so I’m hesitant to label them as seriously “meta.”
Today’s Patreon update: As it’s a Wednesday, time for the $5+ Patron tiers to get their weekly dose of commissioned damsel-in-distress content, along the lines of the same material was eventually reworked into Empowered. (No idea what as to exactly that might be at this time, though; these commentaries are written much further out from posting than are my often last-minute Patreon updates.)
