I’m typing this during a power outage, and my laptop’s battery is steadily winding down—40% and dropping! Oops, make that 39%! Will I be able to finish this week’s slate of commentaries before the battery finally dies? Ooh, the tension, folks!

Panel 3: The tight close-up on stuffed animal “Mellow Mr. Monkey” in this shot amuses me to no end, gotta say. And to repeat an explanation from years ago, his Emp-alleged “nightmare-suppressing powers” are a riff borrowed from something that one of my nieces claimed about one of her early-childhood stuffed animals. Nowadays, my niece has two young children of her own; one can only hope that my grand-nephews (ouch!) will inherit similar nightmare-suppressing plushie effects!

Akk—laptop’s down to a 20% charge. Yikes!
