Panel 3: Sound the Excessively Petite Ninjette Feet Alert yet again, folks—though in this case, her foot is more oddly truncated or poorly foreshortened than Petite as such. (Drawing feetsies is tough, let me assure you.)

Panel 4: In the initial version of this panel, I was startled to belatedly notice that ol’ Urushihara here wound up looking eerily—indeed, alarmingly—like Sokka from Avatar: the Last Airbender. That certainly wasn’t intentional, I can tell you. So, after the fact, I went back and tweaked Urushihara’s character design to make him a fair bit less Sokka-ish.

Fun fact: I was briefly—very briefly—in the running to write the first Dark Horse Comics Avatar spinoff graphic-novel series, but understandably lost out to acclaimed creator Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese). Oddly enough, this is the only opportunity I’ve ever had to be considered for writing a project for Dark Horse; I’ve worked for ’em on my own creator-initiated (if not fully creator-owned, until Empowered) projects intermittently for almost 30 years, but have never otherwise been offered the chance to pitch on other writing gigs. “Not that I am bitter,” as Dave Barry used to put it. (Ahem.)

Today’s Patreon Update: As this is a Monday, time for our weekly double dose of life drawings new-ish (2018) and old (2017) along with the high-res Photoshop raw scans for both of ‘em, available to all Patron tiers.
