Panel 1: Behold, yet another L-shaped panel, which (as I've mentioned many times before) is a layout riff borrowed from the work of Frank Thorne in his 70s run drawing Marvel's version of Red Sonja—though, as my Patreon has discussed in the occasional "Comic Riffs I Love" feature, he was using "the L" and a number of even funkier page-design flourishes in plenty of his other work. (Red Sonja is just the first place that I noticed Thorne's idiosyncratic approach to laying out dense, high-panel-count comic pages.)
Next week on the webcomic, stand by for both Big Action and Big Emo as Sistah Spooky makes her ill-fated last stand against the relentless legions of Hell.
Today’s Patreon update: In an attempt to scratch out more worktime to
complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over
to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the
fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post
might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels
content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or
something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design
departments, or possibly something entirely new. Golly!
