Panel 2: Go figure, Emp didn't immediately catch an Animal House reference. As established waaaay back in Empowered vol. 1 (in a scene I don't feel like looking up right now), most dialogue refs along these lines tend to sail over her head.

Panel 3: Theoretically Submissive Yet Actually Quite Demanding Roleplaying Emp strikes again!

Panel 4: A critical friend from the long-defunct Top-Secret Empowered E-mailing List felt that this (deleted) scene effectively accused Emp of being hypocritical in her annoyance about Ghost Writer's "spankfic," an assumption which I in turn felt was a bit of a stretch. So what if she occasionally roleplays the (theoretical) submissive in an intimate context with her lover? IMHO, that had nothing to do with a third party electing to fetishize her public persona, though I suppose Your Mileage May Vary on this point.
