Panels 2-3: Yeahp, that's actual Comic Sans font. Initially, I tried to imitate that legendarily crappy typeface by hand, but wound up having to replace my ersatz hand lettering with the real thing.

Panel 5: This panel's a reference to a scene from early on in Empowered vol. 1, though this link might be off due to a different numbering scheme used back in the early days of the webcomic. UPDATE: Yay, the link goes to the correct page!

Panel 6: And the upper image in this panel is a reference to a fairly infamous Spider-Woman scene from the 70s Marvel comic, which has been the basis of a whole bunch of "damsel in distress" commissions I've done over the years—including ones that eventually evolved into this very series.

Today’s Patreon update: In an attempt to scratch out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new.
