Panel 2: This cryovillain’s supranym is a reference to a very, very—make that VERY—unlikely sexual practice probably stumbled across on Urban Dictionary or the like. (Don’t bother looking it up.) This was such ludicrous BS that I just had to borrow it for a bad guy’s monicker.

Panel 2: The Japanese kana—“samui,” meaning “cold”—on the cryobomb is a direct reference to the kana for “Akira” lettered on the cryogenic chamber containing that godlike psychokinetic child, as seen in vol. 2 of Otomo Katsuhiro’s classic manga Akira.
