One of my favorite pages from Empowered vol. 3, even if writing emotional and sincere scenes like this quite frankly makes my skin crawl a little, as my natural tendency would be to undercut such heart-on-sleeve sincerity with deflating humor or cheap snarkery. Well, screw that, even if avoiding the easy joke makes me a bit uncomfortable. (Just deal with it, dood.)
