Panel 1: As has been mentioned before, morning sex is apparently a frequent occurrence for Thugboy and Emp, perhaps in part because neither of the notably randy pair has to get up in the morning to report to a conventional 9-to-5 job. (Or maybe not, given that I rather doubt my fellow members of the self-employed are overly inclined to AM shenanigans.) Of course, the fact that Thugboy is initiating intimacy with a woman clutching a stuffed animal does lend a somewhat surreal and possibly off-putting air to the proceedings, gotta admit. Then again, who knows what sights Mellow Mr. Monkey may have beheld? Perhaps the inclusion of Emp’s favorite childhood toy in the Caged Demonwolf’s earlier imaginary bedroom scenario might not be that all far off the mark.

Panels 3 & 4: For some reason, the idea of Thugboy’s hand issuing question-mark word balloons cracks me up, though this stylistic flourish does, I hope, clarify matters a bit. Otherwise, we’d see nothing but three “silent” panels of his hand roaming aimlessly to and fro in a somewhat cryptic fashion.
