*SUDDEN FLASHBACK TO EMP’S CHILDHOOD, FOLKS*

Panel 1: The movie being watched by Age 10 Emp is, as readers Of A Certain Age will recognize, Wes Craven’s 1988 movie The Serpent and the Rainbow. I saw it in the theater back when I was still in the Kubert School; back then, my friends and I would go see a movie every g-d Friday after class, whether or not there was anything worth seeing. Gotta say that, overall, Serpent was a decent enough flick, but the famous scene of a voodoo-drugged Bill Pullman croaking out his desperate request was striking as hell (as seen at the end of the trailer).

Panel 6: Without getting too SPOILER-iffic, webcomic readers might want to keep this scene in mind for future reference.
