Panels 2-3 are referring to Emp’s accidental faceplant from the opening chapter of Empowered vol.5, which you might recall from a year or two ago.

And that’s the end of the chapter “A First Time for Everything,” folks! Worry not, webcomic readers, as we will revisit this scene later in the volume and find out exactly what Ninjette’s idea re: Emp’s distress issues might be.

Tomorrow, we kick off the vol. 7 chapter “Excessive Talkiness,” which checks in on a whole bunch of various key Empverse characters before timejumping ahead to the vicious Ayakami ninja fight taking place in the present.
