Panel 3: Gotta say that I’m not fond of Ninjette’s—nay, Kozue’s—frequent interjections throughout this sequence, though I suppose the idea was to give her some kinda reaction, rather than leaving her silent and verbally unresponsive as she listens to the Demonwolf’s extended soliloquy.

Panel 4: True, depicting the melting ice cube as a blatant metaphor for mortality isn’t the most subtle of approaches, but this did add a welcome and novel bit of, well, “visual freshness” to the sequence—as opposed to just using alternating shots of Ninjette and the Blazing-Eyed Devilgoat. In fact, in retrospect, I wish I’d returned to the melting ice cube later on in the pages that follow.
